SINGAPORE - Six people have been arrested for their suspected involvement in several theft cases along Orchard Road, the police said in a statement today (Dec 23).
At about 4pm yesterday (Dec 22), a woman shopping in the area lodged a police report after finding that her mobile phone was missing from her bag's front pocket, which had been unzipped without her knowledge.
After conducting ground enquiries to establish the identities of the suspects, the police arrested the suspects - five women and one man aged between 24 and 33 - in a hotel in Geylang today.
Several mobile phones, wallets and other items believed to be fraudulently obtained were found in their possession. Investigations revealed that the suspects may be involved in other cases reported along Orchard Road in early November, the police said.
The suspects will be charged in tomorrow (Dec 24). If convicted, they face a jail term of up to three years, a fine or both.
