50 Years Of Independence - Are We Better Off?

My Ah Kong raised nine kids. He wasn't educated. Ah Mah was a housewife, All (of his kids) are grown now, with families of their own. After work, my Ah Kong came home (before the sun set) and had time to chit chat with neighbours outside. We had dogs, chickens. My mom told me when she was young, they even had a pig (as a pet, not for makan.) All my aunties can cook.

Now, my cousins (and some of their spouses) have degrees. The have a hard time raising their two or one kid. After work, they go home and do their kid's work, if not overtime or some stupid company dinner or with customers, or suppliers. They do not know who their neighbours are. My nieces and nephews are afraid of dogs. Some lucky ones get to keep hamsters, which are taken care of by the foreign maid. Not one fucking kid even knows how to make a sandwich for themselves.

I don't think we're better off. Maybe some, definitely not the majority.
