SINGAPORE - A female red panda from River Safari Singapore has died, Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) said in a media statement on Friday (Jan 15).
She was five-years-old.
According to WRS, Poonya had been suffering from a gut infection and was under treatment since Jan 7. Despite being under a 24-hour intensive care by zookeepers and vets, her condition later deteriorated.
The red panda died at 1am on Jan 13.
Poonya is survived by a male companion, Puska, who arrived with her from Johannesburg Zoo, South Africa in 2012.
WRS added that it hopes to bring in another female red panda.
