5 illegal immigrants arrested by the Police Coast Guard

SINGAPORE - Five illegal immigrants have been arrested for entering Singapore unlawfully on three separate occasions from Jan 20 to 23.
In the first instance, the Police Coast Guard (PCG) detected three floating objects believed to be swimmers at sea off Senoko in the early hours of Jan 20. Three men, aged between 25 and 30, were subsequently intercepted and arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore.
On the second occasion, a 45-year-old man was arrested for attempting to enter Singapore unlawfully after being found near Fuji Jetty in the wee hours of Jan 23.

Finally, a 31-year-old man was also arrested near Sungei Mandai, but this time, for attempting to leave Singapore illegally by swimming across the Straits of Johor to Malaysia in the early hours of Jan 23.
Commander of PCG, senior assistant commissioner of Police Hsu Sin Yun said: "PCG will continue to be steadfast and vigilant, working more determinedly round the clock to achieve PCG's mission in preventing, deterring and detecting crime in the Singapore waters".
