40 women nabbed for unlawful employment offences

SINGAPORE: Police have nabbed 40 women for unlawful employment offences.
The joint operation was conducted by officers from the Bedok Police Division, Criminal Investigation Department, the Central Narcotics Bureau and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
The suspects, all foreigners, were arrested during enforcement checks at entertainment and food outlets, as well as coffee shops, located in Joo Chiat and Geylang.
The women are aged between 19 and 39.
Separately, four coffee shops were also issued summons on liquor licence infringements; while fire safety violations were detected at three entertainment outlets and one coffee shop.
Police said the crackdown is part of efforts to clamp down on unlawful and illicit activities.
Investigations against the women arrested are ongoing.
