SINGAPORE - More than 900g of heroin worth $64,000 was seized when the Central Narcotics Bureau busted a drug transaction.

CNB officers also seized $8,600 in cash.

The officers intercepted a suspect receiving a fresh consignment of drugs on Monday (July 20), CNB said in a statement on Tuesday.

At about 7pm on Monday, officers staking out in Bendemeer spotted a yellow car arriving at a carpark.

Fifteen minutes later, the suspected drug trafficker was spotted approaching the car and left shortly after. The suspected trafficker, a 43-year-old Singaporean man, was arrested.

CNB officers found a packet of heroin weighing about 460g in the suspect's slingbag.

Another party of officers tailed the yellow car to Jalan Besar and arrested all three people in the car - a 49-year-old man, two women, aged 40 and 33. All are Singaporeans.

A search of the car recovered about 460g of heroin. Officers also found a small amount of heroin and "Ice" in the home of the 49-year-old man.

Drug paraphernalia, including digital weighing scales and empty plastic sachets, were also seized.

Investigations into the drug activities of all four arrested persons are ongoing, CNB said.

Anyone convicted of trafficking in more than 15g of pure heroin can be sentenced to death under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

That amount of heroin is sufficient to feed the addiction of about 180 abusers for a week, CNB said.
