Quote - PETALING JAYA: Rights group Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) says a record 10 inmates at Changi prison have had their clemency petitions rejected by the Singapore government this week, four of whom are Malaysians convicted of drug-related offences.
Adding that in Singapore, execution usually follows soon after the rejection of clemency petitions, LFL adviser N Surendran urged the authorities to put a stop to what he called “serial hanging”.
“The large and sudden number of clemency rejections is unprecedented and shocking.
“It indicates that Singapore is preparing for an execution binge, in total disregard of international legal norms and decent world opinion,” he said in a statement today..... Unquote.
This nuthead is living in dreamland. If the death penalty is not strictly enforced in sinkieland to get killers, drug traffickers and other hardcore criminals to eat rope, the tiny island is long gone.
The condemned men were given full legal process to challenge the charges made against them in court but their crimes were proven beyond reasonable doubt to qualify for the rope.
The appeal for clemency is a privilege, it is not a right. The President or the Cabinet has the absolute right to reject the appeal. Other countries may allow killers and drug traffickers to walk free because of human rights and other nonsensical liberalism but it should never happen in sinkieland.
