BYD Sg is #1 sales in Singapore, partly helped by subsidies from China parent to bid aggressively COEs.
It's BYD China that's in trouble because of intense involutionary competition - super-slim profits, over-production, car graveyards. It overtook Tesla as world's #1 EV producer but is losing ground to competitors at home to competitors like Nio, Xiaomi and Xpeng who are pouring more money into software - BYD's Achilles' heel. 2026 saw the weakest growth in 5 years, sales plunged 36% in Jan and Feb alone in Chinese markets.
