SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 19-year-old youth who lured a woman to a multi-storey carpark on the pretext of offering her a lift home.

He later robbed and assaulted the 32-year-old woman, taking from her a handphone and S$1,000 in cash.

Police said the incident happened on July 30 at about 2pm on the seventh storey of a multi-storey car park at Park Crescent where the teen had claimed he had parked his car.

When they reached the seventh storey, the teen punched the woman in the head several times and robbed her before fleeing the scene.

Police arrested the suspect on Monday and he will be charged in Court on August 3 with Robbery with Hurt.

The offence carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and mandatory caning of not less than 12 strokes.
