30-04-2006 - Dr Balaji Sadasivan promises lower healthcare costs if PAP given strong

Re: 30-04-2006 - Dr Balaji Sadasivan promises lower healthcare costs if PAP given str

To be fair to the PAPa, they DID do their own 'checks and balances'.

One of them checked and, goes 'opps' no more $ in the coffer as they needed it for 'long term (3 months in their definition)' investment. The other then balance it up by increasing GST, Tax, ERP, delaying withdrawal of CPF, etc.

Anyone can dispute the 'checks and balances' part that they did not do ? It is the 66.6% that think 'checks and balances' has other definitions in favour of the general mass.

It's not like that. The check and balance is an in-house thing which is used to guarantee Lee dynastic interests. :D That way members are always dependent on Lee dynastic patronage. :D

SINGAPORE : Dr Balaji Sadasivan, who is a member of the People's Action Party (PAP) team contesting Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency, addressed concerns over healthcare costs at a PAP rally on Saturday.

He said given a strong mandate, the PAP would continue to find ways to make healthcare affordable for older Singaporeans.

Dr Balaji said, "Everyone is concerned about the cost of healthcare. When you go to neighbouring countries, in public hospitals, the care is very cheap. But whenever Singaporeans go there, the first thing they want to do is to transfer to a hospital in Singapore, cause the quality of healthcare is excellent, which is why the life expectancy of Singaporeans is so much longer than those of citizens of neighbouring countries.

"But in the next five years, if you give us a strong mandate, we will find ways to make healthcare affordable and more convenient for more Singaporeans. You have heard Minister Khaw Boon Wan on the new CPF rules that allow you to use CPF or Medisave account for outpatient care. This will help many older Singaporeans. We will also reorganise care for elderly, so that your many illnesses can be looked after by one doctor, bringing down the cost of your healthcare, but (to) do this, we need a strong mandate from you."

Meanwhile, PAP candidate for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Inderjit Singh, said there is no need for the opposition to be represented in Parliament.

He told the crowd at a PAP rally that the party is able to provide its checks and balances in governance.

"Now you must have seen in Parliament...that there are MPs from the PAP who were...willing to challenge the government to question their policies, and more importantly to provide constructive criticisms in parliament. And unfortunately, those MPs are not the opposition MPs, those are the PAP MPs, like myself.

"In fact, if you listen carefully in Parliament, sometimes the opposition MPs look like they are PAP MPs, and the PAP MPs, like the few that I mentioned, including myself, look like opposition MPs." - CNA/ms

Stressed by his 'mandate or else I do nothing' ploy, he seems to have succumbed to his own undoing.

It is the commitment of Singaporeans to their own health that leads to a lowering of healthcare costs, not a big government that uses threats and insinuations to wrangle votes from the electorate only to totally fail in its delivery.

Mr Balaji is now dead, lets take a leaf from the book of his sad story, open our hearts, care and share with those around us.

There is no need for a mandate to do good.

Dear Mr Balaji, RIP.

Maybe he could not afford the expensive treatments for colon cancer thanks to his failure to lower the costs of healthcare, and hence died so fast. Gay Loong on the other hand also has colon cancer, but his father is filthy rich and can afford all sorts of medical treatments and hence he is alive. This is just karma, how to RIP?

Re: 30-04-2006 - Dr Balaji Sadasivan promises lower healthcare costs if PAP given str

I hope Mp cow is reading these:
1. is $300/per year of max. medisave utilization enough?
I don't know who is the stupid idiot suggested this figure and approved by all the ministers. can mp cow and all ministers post here how much a medical bill requires for a diabetic patient in a year.
2. can you ask all your polyclinic casher 1st thing to ask ' ARE YOU USING YOUR MEDISAVE TO OFFSET PART OF YOUR MEDICAL BILL? ( FOR CHRONIC SICKNESS, THE MEDICAL BILL MUST EXCEESED $40/-)' There was one in geylang east polyclinic, a casher telling the old dementia citizen 'no money no medicine', without even asking him whether using medisave fund? to break the ice of the long 3 mins stand off, I told the casher to give him the medicine first and send the medical bill to his house and i told the old comrade (why i call him old comrade is becos he probably has contributed to the society his share in his peak time) if your financially in devastated stage go to your mp and ask him to help you to write in for installament payment or waive the charges.
you, mps don't have to trust me saying here, go spotcheck yourself in full disguise and in solitaire or send your uncle sam to check it out.
3. polyclinic dr. consultation from $8/ to $10/-, GLUCOBAY 3 mths supply from $72.25 to 2 mths supply of $102.50, MANY MORE. No wonder I always heard koptiam uncle said 'in singapore can die can not sick'.
beleive it or not, I was told by one old man, he has not been eating a 'good meal' for years, but, we are able to spend $50k to learn cooking in france and have our sumptuious birthday dinner in a posh hotel.

how do these people sleep at night???

Dr Balaji- too little too late

Dr Balaji- too little too late:

'Dr Balaji Sadasivan promises lower healthcare costs if PAP given strong mandate' [CNA 30-04-2006]

'Strong mandate or I do nothing Balaji', manipulated and exploited to achieve PAP expectations of a "strong mandate", must have been totally disappointed with the poor response of unimpressed Singaporeans; this disappointment unfortunately taking much toil upon his own health.

Moral of the story, U don't need a strong mandate, nor any outside 'mandate' for that matter to do what is right and good for your fellow men.
If U are certain about what is good and right, U won't be betrayed by political partisan affinities swaying your objectives, betraying your credibility by looking like a puppet or a clown; you'd just do what is right and good and be personally happy about it.

Minus the election fanfare, less the political charade.

Another case of too little too late.

RIP Mr Balaji.

I hope the next person who takes over Dr Balaji's role will try to bring healthcare costs down. 4 years down and yet healthcare costs are still going up. The greying population can't handle this increase

Re: 30-04-2006 - Dr Balaji Sadasivan promises lower healthcare costs if PAP given str

That's why the Cow get free heart by-pass operation for such a good job done.
Oh really? Khaw Boon Wan said Singapore medical and hospital too costly for old folks and suggested that they go JB or Batam for treatment because Singapore cannot afford to accomdate them.

Re: Dr Balaji- too little too late

Bala's promise came through for some, some got free peasant organs, the Cow got a free heart bypass and for his effort Bala got free colon cancer operation.

Too bad for the rest who voted for this in 2006, you will have to wait for Bala's rebirth to deliver cheap medical care.

R.I.P. Amen
