SINGAPORE - The 12th man involved in a fatal fight at a disco in One Fullerton more than five years ago was sentenced to three years' jail and three strokes of the cane on Tuesday.

Lum Keng Mun, 46, has been on the run for four and a half years since then and turned himself in on Dec 8, 2011, The Straits Times (ST) reported.

At about 5.30am on March 4, 2007, the deceased Mr Lim Chye Huat, 35, got into a fight with Lum's friend Mohamed Rafi Mohaidee Shaik.

The dispute, reportedly over the obstruction of a lift, resulted in Lim being surrounded and violently beaten up by more than 10 people.

The attack also resulted in injuries to two of Lim's friends, renovation contractor Goh Chin Poh and machine operator Chua Kian Siong.

According to ST, Lum had kicked Lim while he was lying motionless on the ground.

The victim died of chest injury at about 7am after he was conveyed to a hospital.

In the evening of the same day, Lum fled to Malaysia after learning of the deliveryman's death.

Lum was originally charged with murder while being part of an illegal assembly. He later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of rioting.
