While what the three chaps did was commendable, I see no need for a reward. Did they risk their lives? SAF bo standard.

With respect to the other ethnic groups, I prefer to have Malay soldiers any time.
Even during reservist SATO training, they assigned a Malay platoon or company of soldiers to me (at that time, the SAF was experimenting with Malay platoon, with Malay SAF NSF officers), and I was very impressed.
I lost my watch during the nigth exercise, and after the exercise, they voluntarily went up the fortified objective (hill) to search and they did find my watch.
