THREE suspects will be charged in court on Tuesday for cheating by personation at the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) Casino. All three were arrested on separate occasions for attempting to enter the casino with another person's identification documents. A 29-year-old Singaporean was detained by the RWS security on May 17 after he was found using his mother's driving licence to enter the Casino and failing to pay the entry levy.

On the same day, a 39-year-old female Permanent Resident tried to use another person's work permit to avoid paying the entry levy. Issued with an Exclusion Order by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), the third suspect, a 42-year-old Singaporean man, was arrested after using another person's driving licence to enter. All three can be jailed up to five years, fined, or both, if convicted. They are also liable for the amount of the entry levy that was not paid.

SINGAPORE: Three people will be charged on Tuesday in court with trying to enter the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) casino with another person's identification documents.

On May 17, a 29-year-old Singaporean man was detained by the RWS security officers after he was found using his mother's driving licence to enter the casino and failing to pay the entry levy.

On the same day, a 39-year-old female permanent resident was also detained after she tried using another person's work permit to enter the casino to avoid paying the entry levy.

On June 30, a 42-year-old Singaporean man, who was issued with an exclusion order by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), was arrested after he was found using another person's driving licence to enter the casino.

If convicted, they can be jailed up to five years, or fined, or both.

Under the Casino Control Act, anyone who fails to pay the entry levy will also be liable for the amount of the entry levy that was not paid.

THREE people were charged on Tuesday with entering or trying to enter the Resorts World Sentosa casino by using another person's identification documents. A fourth person, Pea Lay Eng, 52, unemployed, was accused of abetment by intentionally helping her son, Chan Yao Xiang, to pose as her to enter the casino by producing her driving licence to gain entry on May 17.

Chan, 29, a tour guide, faces two charges - entering the casino under an assumed character and not paying the entry levy that day. The cases against Luo Meifang, 42, a canteen stallholder, and relief Ong Phee Tian, 42, were adjourned to Oct 12. Both face two charges each.

Luo is said to have tried to enter the casino on July 14 by using the work permit of her employee and failing to pay the levy that day, while Ong allegedly impersonated as taxi driver Peh Eng Lee by using the latter's driving licence to get into the casino on June 30. If convicted of cheating by personation, they can be jailed for up to five years and/or fined. For failing to pay the levy, the maximum penalty is a fine of up to $1,000.

A MAN who took his mother's driving licence to enter the Resorts World Sentosa casino was fined $2,500 on Monday on two charges. Tourist guide Chan Yao Xiang, 29, admitted to posing as his mother, Pea Lay Eng, by scanning the barcode of her driving licence to get in, as well as entering the casino without paying the $100 levy on May 17.

Pea, 52, who has a annual membership at RWS, was convicted of helping her son to cheat by personation by suggesting that he use her driving licence to enter without paying the entry levy. She was fined $2,000. A district court heard that when Chan tried to leave the casino 40 minutes later, he scanned the barcode of his identity card but was not allowed to leave.

A security officer conducted a check and found that he had used his mother's driving licence to enter the casino. Both could have been jailed for up to five years and/or fined for cheating by personation. Chan could have been fined up to $1,000 for entering the casino premises without paying the levy.

SINGAPORE: A mother and son pair was on Monday fined in court for wrongful access into the casino of Resorts World Sentosa.

The mother Pea Lay Eng was fined S$2,000 while the son Chan Yao Xiang was fined S$2,500.

On May 17, Chan told his mother that he was going to the casino.

Pea then suggested that he used her driving license to enter the casino without paying the levy as she had already purchased a one-year membership.

Chan subsequently took the 52-year-old woman's driving license and entered the casino with it.

He was discovered when he wanted to leave the casino and scanned the barcode of his identity card.

The security personnel called the police when it was discovered that Chan had used another person's identity to enter the casino.

Chan was charged with using another person's identity to enter the casino and with not paying the S$100 casino entry levy required by Singaporeans and permanent residents.

Pea was charged with abetting her son to use her driving licence to enter the casino.
