Three Chinese nationals found themselves blacklisted from entering Malaysia following an altercation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s holding area for visitors denied entry.

Two males, along with another female traveler, all Chinese passport holders, found themselves issued a Not to Land (NTL) order in the early hours of Saturday morning having just landed at klia2. Authorities reported “inconsistencies” in their travel documents.

The stamp is can be given to individuals with dubious travel purposes, and those who do not fit the requirements of a visa on arrival. This could be due to financial capabilities to support themselves while in the country, or lack of valid travel reasons. It differs from blacklisting, which bars entry to a country for a set amount of time, and it is not a criminal offense.

While being escorted into the holding area that separates men from women, the pair of male suspects, aged 28 and 30, insisted on staying in the female-only section, and began chatting with a woman, 33, inside the area.

Officers on duty asked them to leave, and sit in their zone, and the matter quickly escalated into raised voices and aggressive actions. A scuffle ensued, and the suspects punched two of the officers.

Other authorities on duty were able to separate the four, and reported that the two victims sustained scratches and bruises. A police report against them was filed on behalf of the two allegedly attacked officers.

All three were then deported from Malaysia, and blacklisted from subsequently entering the country.
