SINGAPORE — The police on Monday (March 14) arrested a 33-year-old man in Queenstown for allegedly injuring two people with a razor blade, one of whom was taken to the hospital.
In a news release, the police said they responded to a call for assistance at about 6.20pm on Monday at Blk 59 Strathmore Avenue.
Police said the man, who has a record with the Institute of Mental Health, was arrested by officers at the scene for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapon and criminal intimidation.
A razor blade was seized as a case exhibit.
The police added that a 38-year-old man was conscious when taken to the hospital while a 49-year-old woman suffered minor lacerations.
The woman was assessed by paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force at the scene and was not taken to the hospital.
The offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon carries punishment of up to seven years' jail, a fine, caning or a combination of such punishments.
The offence of criminal intimidation carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Earlier on Monday, the police arrested a man who was caught on video swinging a sword at several cars and a passer-by along Buangkok Crescent. He was arrested by the police after he was detained by members of the public.
