Tiered facilities to support patients according to their needs
The Multi-Ministry Task Force announced yesterday (April 28) that it has set up tiered facilities that will support patients according to their needs.
This will optimise medical resources and prevent Singapore's healthcare system from being overwhelmed.
Those who have acute respiratory infections but are clinically well are will be issued 5-day medical certificates. They will be asked to isolate themselves at home.
Those who meet the clinical case definitions for Covid-19 will also be asked to isolate themselves at home while awaiting their swab results.
They can also be isolated at a Swab Isolation Facility (SIF) while waiting for their results. The Civil Service Club @ Loyang and some hotels have been converted into SIFs.
Covid-19 patients with mild or no symptoms will be cared for at Community Care Facilities (CCF). D’Resort NTUC, Singapore EXPO, and Changi Exhibition Centre are examples of CCFs.
Patients who need better medical management and support will be transferred to hospitals. Those with severe conditions will be cared for in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Patients who recover from acute illness, are clinically stable, or remain well after 14 days will be admitted to a Community Recovery Facility (CRF). Several Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) camps have been converted into CRFs.
