26-year-old man arrested for outrage of modesty

SINGAPORE - A 26-year-old man who touched a woman's inner thigh while sharing a lift at a Bukit Panjang HDB block was arrested by the police on July 30.
On May 29 at at about 9.45 pm, the suspect entered the lift with the female victim. The touching incident happened as the lift was ascending.
The victim immediately confronted the suspect but he fled from the scene when the lift door opened.
Officers later obtained images from police cameras installed in the vicinity where the incident occurred.
The police later also ascertained that the same suspect was involved in a similar case by taking up-skirt photographs of another female victim in the same housing estate lift back in late 2013.
The suspect's identity was established on July 30 and the police arrested him along Segar Road.
The suspect will be charged in Court on Aug 1. If convicted for the offence of Outrage of Modesty, he faces imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years, or with fine, or with caning, or with any combination of such punishments.
He also faces imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both, if he is convicted for the offence of Insulting the Modesty of a Woman.
