Who would have guessed a “traditional Malay massage” would involve getting sprayed with water and having your private parts rubbed?
That’s what happened to one 21-year-old lady who got snared by a rogue “masseuse”.
Eaelier this year, the victim saw a post on Carousell by a 32-year-old Malay man, Mohammad, who claimed to be an expert in traditional Malay massage.
She agreed to meet him the next day at a HDB flat unit in Jalan Bukit Merah for a massage session.
What she didn’t know was really an unemployed man with a history of sexual offences.
At first, the massage appeared normal.
Mohammad rubbed the victim’s forehead and face.
Then, he asked her to strip and wrap a towel around her body, and wait for him in the bathroom.
The victim agreed as she trusted him – they had an earlier understanding that there would be no intimate contact during the massage.
But once Mohammad entered the bathroom, he used the shower to spray the victim with water.
He then rubbed soap over her shoulders and back, saying that all this was part of the massage and a way of “cleansing” her.
Suddenly, Mohammad rubbed soap on the victim’s breasts and thighs and reached under her towel to rub her genitalia.
That’s when the victim pushed him away, put on her clothes and ran out of the flat, and made a police report.
Mohammad was arrested.
He has been convicted of outrage of modesty, in addition to 4 other charges, and sentenced to 24 months in jail and 3 strokes of the cane.
