Elk Security's office.

SINGAPORE: A group of workers, including 13 Singaporeans, gathered at their security firm on Monday morning demanding for payment of their wages.

21 local and Malaysian workers accused Elk Security for failing to pay their wages on time as well as contribute to their CPF accounts.

Following discussions between the Manpower Ministry (MOM) and the firm, all parties agreed that the November salaries will be paid on December 11.

MOM said there was a delay in the payment of the workers' salary for the month of November as the company director was overseas and the cheques could not be issued on time.

The ministry will also be investigating the employers for possible offences under the Employment Act.

Cannot be strike just delay payment for 11 days.
The ELK security must be be often delay the payment every month. Hope MOM check into detail for one year. What date the company bank in the money and also employment contract by when company should bank in.

Company boss oversea is stupid excuse . Why can't sign the payment early?

Ha ha ,used to chase for payments, one month say boss in India, the next month say boss in China.

Correct. Salary delayed.

Many such HFJ skiving slavedrivers called bosses in SGP.

So many employers taking advantage of Sinkie employees too. :(

This is utter disgrace and downright selfish.

Our poor underpaid security guards who are leashed to their posts for up to 14 hours deserve better treatment.

I was told that some C graded companies do not even pay them extra pay for working on public holidays.

These company also do not take into account the security guard's duty on months that has a 31st as last day.

The MOM should direct their investigators to look into these grouses and make enquiries.

Why are such security licences given out so liberally.?

Is it because of the $450 annual licence fee.?

The authorities should address the concerns of such security guards for some of them are guarding important installations.

This is what is called "Owing A Duty Of Care" in Torts.

More like sweeping it under the carpet and life goes on.

More likely a case of cash flow problem. Employees need to be paid on time but boss fails to get clients to pay up promptly. Very common in this industry.

Boss went to Switz?

No, Boss car in the carpark, boss hiding under the table!! ha ha ha "MOM said there was a delay in the payment of the workers' salary for the month of November as the company director was overseas and the cheques could not be issued on time" is M.O.M. in collusion with BOSS?? "haven't the heard of pre-signed cheques, locked in the company safe, needing two authorized signatures to sign out the cheques from a book?? " haven't they hear of GIRO??" I thought they usually make these security guards to open POSB accounts??

I think I might have met the BOSS of this security company in the course of my work & needing security guard services...let me look through the name cards. He maybe at the North Pole, providing security services to Santa & his elves..:p
