A group of protesters gathered outside of the court Monday with signs saying “Free Ms Meng”, “Trump stop bullying us”, and “Free Michael”, referring to Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, the two Canadians arrested in China shortly after Meng’s arrest in 2018.
Many of the protestors claim they were offered payment to be there under false pretences. Julia Hackstaff, an actor in Vancouver, says she was offered $100 on Facebook to attend. She said she thought she was appearing for a film shoot.
