Monetary incentives for medals is of course unwise. In Singapore's case the purchase of a bronze medal for S$250,000 is a desperate act. paying outlandish salaries to our ministers is viewed outside Singapore as nepotism. But that's Singapore for you, accountability but with a dash of nepotism.
