JAKARTA: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake rattled the northern tip of Indonesia today, geologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

The quake struck at a shallow depth of one kilometre around 160 kms southeast of Banda Aceh on Indonesia's Sumatra island at 2:09 am local time, the US Geological Survey said.

Aceh province is frequently hit by earthquakes and was devastated by the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.

Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where the meeting of continental plates causes strong seismic activity including earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

The new year dawned in Japan with another earthquake.

A 6.8 earthquake rattled Tokyo and other cities on Sunday, but not enough to cause major damage.

The quake’s epicenter was some 200 miles under the sea, near an island about 300 miles southwest of Tokyo, the U.S. Geological Survey reports. It hit at around 2:30 p.m. local time, or just after midnight Eastern time.

There was no tsunami alert this time, good news for a country still recovering from a 9.0 quake last spring that killed over 20,000 and damaged the country’s nuclear power facilities. Well done Sam!

Perfect now.

I wished all the system administrators doing sites used against LEEgime have this sort of standard like yours. Unfortunately not so.:( You know what you are doing and when problems occurred you will get to the right solution.

Also that your are firm. Not shaken by LEEgime. Which if otherwise they would do what they did to TR.

If they prank one more time I will begin to provide hosting and anchor the political security myself, so the frightened Netizens can take refuge behind. ;)

Ruthless selfish plundering and exploitation of men pissed of planet earth.

So it is rocking to shake us up.

If we can not wake up our fucking ideas then a volcano can pop up from below our feet one in each city, where to run to? Planet Mars?:rolleyes::p

Movie is too much. More likely major earth quake, typhoon, major flood and few volcano eruption.

It'll still be Saw Phaik Hwa's fault. Homosexuality is an abomination, and we can't have a dyke in charge of a nation's major public transport company such as SMRT.

Nothing new, earthquakes wont stop just bcos its New Year, Xmas, Lunar New Year etc...this is the way the Earth is..we cant migrate to another planet can we?
