Turkish airliner crashes at Schiphol, 135 aboard

AMSTERDAM, Feb 25 (Reuters) - A Turkish Airlines (THYAO.IS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) passenger plane with 135 people aboard crashed while attempting to land at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport on Wednesday, authorities said.

The plane broke up when it hit the ground next to the runway.

Still images shown on Dutch television showed the plane on the ground, with the tail section of the fuselage broken off, and a wide crack in the fuselage just behind cockpit. The jetliner did not appear to be on fire.

As many as 50 passengers escaped injury, the CNBC Turkey channel said.

Officials at Istanbul's Ataturk airport said the plane had departed earlier from Istanbul.

THY was not immediately available for comment.

the result of that crash in amsterdam already out.

the pilot use the autopilot system to land the plane, but one of the sensor that give the altitude is faulty. the autopilot system think the plane is on gnd level, but the plane is still in the air.

the autopilot system sound an alarm, the pilot misunderstood the alarm and did not act in time before the autopilot shut down the engine power.

the plane lost power and drop like a rock. the crash kill the pilots.

unrelated to this one is 777 with roll royce engine from china to london which lost power during landing, ice inside engine cause lost of power, it will take roll royce 1 yr to invent something to solve the problem.

meanwhile if you are in 777 with roll royce engine, you have a small risk that it will happen again. the work around now is to increase power during flight to get rid of the ice.

that is so shocking, how can the plane break up and burn like this. i did not expect that crash.

a lot of people apple notebook was lost when they order their notebook online from apple and suppose to fly from china to japan to USA.
