2 Indonesian maids jailed for stealing from their employers

Two Indonesian maids were jailed on Monday for separate cases of stealing from their employers.

Fitri Lestari, 18, was given four months' jail for stealing four diamond-studded gold rings worth $12,090 from Ms Amy Lee, 40, at her Sengkang home in the middle of April 2012.

The court heard that the maid was alone at home that day when she found a key on the shelf in the master bedroom. She used it to open a locked drawer in the cupboard and stole the rings worth between $90 and $9,000 each.

In the same court, Septiana, 27, was jailed for five weeks after she admitted to three counts of theft totalling $2,144 from her employer and her daughter at Tai Keng Lane..
