RIP

SINGAPORE - Three youths were riding their electric bicycles late Thursday (Oct 27) night when a trailer hit them from behind.

Two of the young men died and another was injured in the road accident, which happened close to midnight at the junction of Pandan Crescent along West Coast Highway.

The trio, who were apparently from the same lion dance troupe and good friends, intended to ride from Jurong to Telok Blangah when the accident took place.

Mr Ang Yee Fong, 25, was pronounced dead on the scene. Mr Ong Zi Quan, 18, who was taken to the National University Hospital (NUH), later died of his injuries.

Mr Marcus Loke, 17, was taken to NUH with leg injuries. He is currently in the general ward at the hospital, and is in stable condition.

The Straits Times understands that Mr Loke was riding in front, Mr Ong was in the middle and Mr Ang rode at the back.

They are believed to have been riding in a single file to one side of the road.

The 34-year-old driver of the trailer was arrested for causing death by negligence, according to the police. Investigations are ongoing.

Mr Ong was cremated on Friday (Oct 28) afternoon, while Mr Ang will be cremated on Saturday (Oct 29).

Mr Ong's sister told The Straits Times that her brother, who graduated from the Institute of Technical Education earlier this year, was to be enlisted for national service next Monday (Oct 31). The 20-year-old, who declined to give her name, said: "I can't believe this has happened. We are still in shock."

Re: Pictures of the 2 E-scooter didi killed at West coast, guess the race and profile

NO helmet + modified bikes = insurance companies don't need to pay a dime..

Re: Pictures of the 2 E-scooter didi killed at West coast, guess the race and profile

From the pictures of the damaged escooters, definitely they are those modified and unauthorized ones.

Re: Pictures of the 2 E-scooter didi killed at West coast, guess the race and profile

LTA should legislate all vehicles to have onboard cameras.. will save alot of time and effort.. now lorry drive kena accused, but people staying around the area say these 3 always fly on the road..

Re: Pictures of the 2 E-scooter didi killed at West coast, guess the race and profile

I believe the trailer driver is at fault. Poor boys, rest in peace!

Meaning what? He saw them on those motorised bikes and he didn't like them, so purposely run over them?

From this to this.

looking at the photos objectively, it is very obvious the ah bengs are at fault here 90%. see the skid marks and position of the crushed scooters. most probable scenario is the 3 gong kias were cutting from left to right and the lorry trailer could not stop in time as it is a massive trailer probabaly 30 tons in weight. stupid gongkias did not study basic physics or common sense ie Newton law of motion. ITE only teach them lion dance and Jack neo ah beng movies. modified e-scooters and racing at 12 midnite +dyed hair,+chow ah bengs+ no helmuts +trailer= fatal accident. anyway accidents are nature way of getting rid of such people. frankly sick of these e-scooters riders racing and knocking down injuring pedestrians and weaving in and out. this time they tried to out run a trailer but the table turned on them..... too much exposure to idiotic movies like jack neos and ah bang culture=stupidity which kills. laws of physics always win.
