The most bandwidth crucial business users are the last to get their infrastructure fulfilments in SG. Those who play games and watch pirated movie get fibre broadband first!:*::D

Over 19,000 commercial building and offices can now be powered up to the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN), said the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).

The network has been employed since December last year, allowing occupants of the Next Gen NBN connected non-residential buildings to benefit from the faster broadband speed and to improve its productivity. They can subscribe to more innovative and customized services that tap on the larger bandwidth offered over the network.
“Today, we have twelve service providers offering more than forty fibre connection packages to cater for both residential and enterprise needs,” said Mr Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer of IDA.
According to him, not all enterprises are aware if their premises are fibre ready. To inform the occupants, the IDA will roll out the Fibre Ready! Mark to identify which commercial buildings and offices are hooked up to the Next Gen NBN.
“With the Fibre Ready! enterprises located in those buildings can be kept informed and therefore prepare their premises to be powered up by the Next Gen NBN,”
The buildings that are already connected to the Next Gen NBN include Suntec Office Towers, HarbourFront Centre, Shaw House and Shaw Centre. The IDA planned to complete ninety five per cent nationwide deployment within mid of this year.

Businesses have their own T1 or T2 line. Some even have satellite backup just in case. At least my old company did & they are an MNC with operations worldwide.

Common sense is the fibre is only wired to all local network nodes, beyond that it is still the relatively small and SAME cables connecting SG to the rest of the world.

The reasons why some swore their downloading speed increased 100% was coz they were previously on the cheapest/lowest broadband plan (e.g. 3mpbs) and subsequently changed to fibre and hence experience the faster download speed, which can also be achieved by simply upgrading to a highest non-fibre broadband plan at half the price. Many are hopelessly misled, but that is the beauty of monopoly.

Nope sorry don't play online games.

You can try pinging overseas sites to check the response time.

Start the command prompt (Start > Run 'cmd.exe'), then type in 'ping {site name}'. E.g. ping yahoo.com or ping espn.com.
