we should be thankful to our brillant Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. If not for his excellent leadership, we would have been a third world country. Our men would have to go abroad to work as slave and our women maids.
My take on all this talk about 1st first world this and that are all nice words to create elation among the citizenry. How did this terminology/categorization come about? It somehow makes Singaporeans feel good to be viewed as "First World Citizens," But if by this definition it places Singaporeans among the world's leading/top/advanced nations, then it is a mistake. For all its modernity (for lack of a better word), many Singaporeans still go about their daily lives oblivious to others' and their convenience around them. Just look at the trays on the tables at any food outlet, many people just leave the tables in a mess after their meals. It's not the government, its the society.
