HOME grown solar energy company is giving back to the environment by offering to buy back carbon credits of its products.
Hyland Sunpower Station has put aside $1 million to do just that.
Carbon credit is the value assigned to a reduction of greenhouse gas emission.
A carbon credit, or a lowering of about 1,000kg of carbon dioxide emissions, is worth $50.
Hyland's marketing director Katrina Wang said the company expects about 500 applications for carbon credit reimbursement by July, which would amount to 20 to 30 per cent of the $1 million set aside.
Hyland made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday.
