1973 Spore study shows Hokkiens & Teochews have similar cancer patterns unlike Cantonese due to similar ancestry from Henan unlike Cantonese

This is Cantonese ancestry of China mainland people mixed with various tribes from over 2000 years ago. So they are more mixed and different ancestry from Hokkiens and Teochews from mainland Henan indeed.
The more mixed blood the lower the cancer incidence indeed.

The original inhabitants of South China are the Baiyue people - Nan Yue in Guangdong and Min Yue in Fujian. Han Chinese started arriving to the southern regions two thousand years ago. The Han settlers intermixed with the Natives and over many centuries developed their own language (not Mandarin) and custom which became very different from those in North/Central China. As for the Teochew people, they are late comers like the Hakka people. When they arrive in the south, they settled down in southern Fujian and adopted the language and custom of the Min Nan people. They later moved again as a group to the Shantou region in eastern Guangdong.
