Why wasn't the Ebola virus named the African virus?

It was named after the Ebola River, which flows through the area the virus was first documented.

Stuffycunt, you fucktard. The virus are named after the country of origin. Not the continent. That is why you don't call the Spanish flu the European flu and the Wuhan virus the Asian flu. And that is why you can't call Ebola the African virus. Why are you so stupid? The Ebola was first identified when it hit 2 countries at the same time. So, rather then name it the South Sudan Democratic Republic of Congo virus, which is a mouthful, they just named it after the river that borders the 2 countries in the area where it first occurred.
