‘Running dogs and poor prostitute of the PAP’ continue to smear NSP Nicole Seah

Living up to its reputation of being “running dogs and poor prostitute of the PAP” ( David Marshall - 1994 ) , tabloids under the PAP-controlled Singapore Press Holdings have launched a smear campaign to destroy and demolish popular NSP candidate Nicole Seah in a desperate attempt to curb her growing influence among young Singaporeans and to divert public attention from the police case involving PAP MP for Marine Parade GRC Tin Pei Ling.
The deplorable article about Nicole’s online fund-raising efforts was predictably translated into Chinese by the tabloid Shin Min Daily with additional ’salt and vinegar’ added to it.
Shin Min Daily dedicated an entire page (three) with the misleading title “Nicole Seah being queried for asking supporters to donate money into her personal account” to kick up a fuss over a non-issue.
Though Nicole has already clarified on her Facebook that what she is doing is perfectly legal under the law, Shin Min journalist Ke Xin Ying still found fit to quote from fictitious characters to smear her:
“但是，却有网民发现，收取捐款的银行户头是以佘雪玲个人的名字设立的，因此，大家怀疑她这么做，是否妥当，甚至有人怀疑，她会拿着这些钱离开团结党.”
Translation:
“Netizens discovered that the bank account set up by Nicole to raise funds belongs to her and hence EVERYBODY queried if it’s appropriate for her to do so. There are even SOME who suspect she will take the money and leave NSP.”
Shin Min Daily also quoted an unknown Marine Parade resident “Mr Lim” as saying that Nicole should have used the party’s name to raise funds for sake of greater transparency.
It is a typical SPH modus operandi to use the tabloids to smear the opposition. The TNP articles are usually republished in the two Chinese tabloids which are read widely by middle-aged and elderly Singaporeans who do not surf the internet.
Last year, former TNP journalist NG WAN CHING even resorted to reproducing baseless materials from a PORN site and quoting from fictitious netizens to smear TR’s co-founder. She was recently promoted to a deputy editor at Straits Times despite the fact that there is an ongoing police investigation against her.
