He was first awarded a PBM medal in 2005. Like his father, he is also a grassroots leader. He is the Chairman of Potong Pasir CCMC.

Or Kiam Meng, another son of Or Kim Peow, is an Executive Director of OKP Holdings. He is also a grassroots leader and Patron of Anchorvale CCMC.

Or Lay Huat, third son of Or Kim Peow, is also an Executive Director of OKP Holdings. Unsurprisingly, he has followed the footsteps of his father and brothers in being a grassroots leader. He is a member of Tampines GRC and Tampines West CCC.

To add to the menagerie, Dr John Chen, an ex-PAP Minister of State and ex-MP, is an independent director sitting on the board of OKP Holdings. Dr Chen was an MP from September 1988 to April 2006. From March 1997 to June 1999, Dr Chen was the Minister of State for Communications. From June 1999 to November 2001, he was the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Minister of State for National Development. He has served as a board member of EDB, HDB, PSA and Singapore Power Ltd.

In essence, the Or family members are all grassroots leaders in various constituencies.

If not join grassroots for what? You think really service the people meh?

If they really want to service, it would be volunteer work not grassroots.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with successful people wanting to give back to the community by volunteering their time and effort to serve in grassroots organisations.

Singaporeans should be thankful that despite their successes, the feet of these highly motivated and wealthy individuals remain firmly on the ground and they are in constant touch with the ordinary folk.

I recommended Kiyosaki some time ago and everyone said he was a fraud.

I'm glad it is starting to dawn on people that he is spot on in many aspects of life.

Haha I agree voluntarily! Imho, a true volunteer who wants to be a grassroots leader must not expect any rewards in any guise. Obviously it is very lucrative to be a grassroots leaders.

In order to mix with the " high class " society you have to " low class " . That's the hard truth in today's world .

Not a surprise... Must also do a check on all previous tenders..

LTA awarded the tender to a Taiwanese company CTCI for their DTL 3 and Thomson Line trackworks projects.. CTCI bid was the lowest among all the overseas companies who submitted their tenders to LTA..

Previously it was Alstom who did the Circle Line and DTL 1 and DTL 2 trackworks project.. We know that Alstom is an established name in the international railway industry.. Alstom lost the bid to CTCI for the DTL3 project..

Its a surprise to know that LTA awarded CTCI the contract when the Taiwanese company has no experience at all in the railway industry..

There is nothing wrong with a grassroots leader bidding for public projects. Grassroots leaders also need a livelihood. And besides, the tender was won through an open process and not by unfair means. If samsters have evidence that the grassroots leader won his public contracts by dishonest means, please contact CPIB asap.

indeed we should be thankful for the grassroots feeding so much disinformation to the PAP that it resulted in the landmark loss of Aljunied GRC.
