Over 7,000 commuters at 13 stations affected by short power failure

SINGAPORE: Over 7,000 commuters at 13 train stations from Newton to Marsiling on the North South Line were affected by a short power failure at at around 1.30 pm on Thursday.
Seventeen trains carrying passengers could not move and emergency power was triggered for lighting and ventilation in the carriages.
Services resumed after power was progressively restored.
The power trip also hit parts of Ang Mo Kio and Bishan.
Singapore Power said initial findings suggest that the outage was due to a damaged cable.
It is conducting further investigations and apologises for the inconvenience caused.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said they did not receive calls for any assistance.
The power outage hit retailers at Bishan Junction 8 and the nearby bus interchange, among other places. People who witnessed the incident told MediaCorp that power was quickly restored after about 10 to 15 minutes with no real major disruption to their activities. - CNA
