Examination is a Chinese thing.
Jiu hu abolished standard 6 exams and there was a huge protest. Mostly from Chinese parents.
But if you go to the West, the only exams only happens when they reached 15 or 16 years old. In the US, by 17, you get into university or fight a war somewhere.

It took me 6 weeks of solid mugging for my O Levels to top my class. The rest of the year was spent on chasing pussies, martial arts training, attending functions and just chilling out with my kakis. Never knew what was going on in class.

O level is just easy pissy to you.
I spend 10 years in school and still lost. till now.

My secondary school form teacher frequently humiliated me, and several teachers did not think well of me. My academic performance ranged from poor to terrible at times. I became terribly restrained, thinking that no one would ever think better of me again, since I was frightened that other students would make fun of me.

By some devine intervention, I was the only student in the class qualified for polytechnic at the final GCE O passed out exams. All remaining students remained and repeat their GCE. I pointed my middle finger at them all (teachers included) as I walked out of the school.

Ever since I stepped into secondary school, I never knew what was taught in class. When O Levels came, I just spotted questions and memorized like fuck and throw it back. Only the best 5 subjects are needed. Maths was out for me. I didn't even turn up for the paper. English and Chinese confirmed distinction. Left with History, Literature and General Science, which I scored A2, B3 and B4. Total 11 points. And I can still top my whole class with such mediocre grades. So you can imagine how fuck up my class was.

My parents thought ITE is also not bad if I didn't make it. I ended up in Singapore Polytechnic studying Banking and Finance, quite ahead of all my peers in Secondary school. Moral of the story, don't expect too much from you children and they will surprise you.

Is there still those 10 years series for gce oar level?
During my time, I could dump all my textbooks and just do self study with it and qualified for jc. I chosen the polytechnic route, knowing that I probably would have to struggle with gp if i were to go jc.
And I also knew that the polytechnic route would be more suitable for my self taught method. And boomz, I didn't attended a single lecture after experiencing the first few lectures in year 1.
All my class mates knew about my laziness when cum to studying, so Noone wanted to partner me in their group in the final year project.
I was randomly being assigned to a group that consisted of 3 lazy people.
We went to play snooker every week during project day. We stole the lecturers model answers during lab exercises when the lecturer went away.
When he leeturned, he couldn't find his model answers sheet, and immediately suspected we were the culprits.
But he has no proof, so he pretended to flip thru our personal files giving some excuses to do so. Of course i didn't kept those model answers sheets in my file and had already predicted this to happen later.
There was one subject that I was specially weaked in, and happened to be conducted by the same lecturer. I scored below 10/100 during the common test, but I scored distinction during the practical as I have already copied from other class prior to that. That lecturer called me in and interrogated, asking how is it possible for anyone to be so good with their practical and weak in common test. I leemained silent so he couldn't do anything about it.

Yuan jia Lu zai. During our final year project, that lecturer happened to be the lecturer in charged.
One of my project mate scolded him cb when he caught us playing cards at the staircase during project day.
Needless to say, He failed us, even we did a last min full submission of our project.
He not only failed us, but purposely made some candid leemarks to our team during the presentation, by asking, can u turn it on? Will it explode?
We knew that we are finished, and I was told that we would need to leepeat the final year if the final year project were to fail.
Luckily, the institution was fair to us, and called in another team of lecturers to assess our project work. Since we submitted the project on time, and meeting all the criteria needed, the new assessor passed us with a D.

At that time, I knew that the world is unnatural and that likely our life's has been planned out by the higher up.

That particular subject that I was weakest in, I was worLeed I might fail the course becos of that subject.
So when exam came, I still didn't managed to buck it up.
Although a small % of it were assessed thru practicals, I was still in great danger becos I anticipated I couldn't even score above 10/100 during the paper exam.

But miracle happened.
The paper consisted of 2 parts
10mcq with 3 points each =30% and 70% was the opened questions.

After the exam finished, I immediately went to one of my class mate who was a star student, to compare the answers for all the mcqs. This guy every subjects also got distinction one.

So I was shocked that I got all the 10mcq tikumed correctly. Means I already got 30% of it.
Then I just need to score another 20% of the opened questions.
I was still worLeed, but later on I leeceived some rumour that this paper markings was modified I.e I could possibly just passed it without having to score 50%.
But I was still worLeed, becos it was only a rumour.
So during the final year holiday, I started to prepare for the supplementarlee paper whenever I have the time, becos I didn't wanted to fail the course just becos of 1 subject.
But in the end, when collecting leesult, I got a D. KNN KNN KNN

In the early 1990s .. entering polytechnic with your 5 subjects below 15 points is a big deal & your Diploma in Banking & Finance looked good

After 2000s almost all the PMET jobs required a basic degree ..

I think you aren’t a parent .. everyone want their kids to have a good starting point in life & not becoming a low wage worker
