Work has begun inside the Changi Prison compound for a new $118.5 million Prison Headquarters.

There will be four buildings and several smaller ancillary buildings that will house office facilities, a multi-purpose hall, a club house and an auditorium.

These will all be built on vacant land next to the prison complex and be completed in 2014.


The project was announced yesterday by Singapore-based Sembawang Engineers and Constructors (SEC), which is owned by the Punj Lloyd Group, an Indian conglomerate.


While the construction group has previously completed institutional projects such as schools and hospitals, this is the first time it is working on a prisons project.

To be fair, I think its long over due for the Prison Service to have a decent HQ..

All this while, their HQ is located at the end of Upp Changi Rd North.. Prison HQ is made up of small buildings less than 2 storeys high.. Their HQ area is also very small.. In fact the present Prisons HQ is similiar to a dormitory housing the foreign workers in a construction site..

Agree with bro zeddy. Prisons Dept is a neglected entity within the HomeTeam. Police has its nice HQ aka Twin Towers. Even ICA is decently housed. CNB tongpang Police Cantonment Complex. ISD near Twin Towers, also decent place.
