If a kid cannot tolerate what life throws at him it is best to end it early rather than going through life being stressed and miserable.

He is still a kid and therefore he needs guidance and counselling. Are we a society with ineffective social support systems and safety net despite all the available resources at our disposal? Something is remiss! Suicide may be an option to a quick resolution but it is always undesirable for a kid to want to end his existence like that. He would have left so many of his relatives and close friends suitably stressed and miserable instead.

Poor exam results, cannot go to top elite schools and win president or rhodes scholarship. Life would be much harder if the son had to strike out on his own. Probably end up like most average sinkie losers who will be driving taxis when they reach their 40s. In contrast, look at how good life is for the top president scholars who go on to be PAP leaders.

Even kids know that if they don't do well in their exams, it's the end!! Other kids should learn from this example and study harder! Spend more money on tuition if necessary!
