11 foreign women caught for suspected vice

SINGAPORE: Police arrested 11 women of different nationalities around Orchard Towers, who are believed to be involved in vice activities.

The suspects are between 21 and 43 years old.

They were caught on Friday during a seven-hour operation by police.

I see a lot of problem with this report from CNA.

1. Too little details.
2. Seven hours operations to catch 11 women? How many police officers from how many divisions were involved?
3. There must be at least 100+ girls in Ipanema alone; not counting the numerous Massage Palours and Discos and Pubs.

These raids are done to 'kau siao'. They aren't going to eradicate this problem. Will never succeed. Next best thing to do is to contain the problem with these raids. They don't want to be accused of chobolan.

A country with two casinos shouldn't be clamping down on 'vice'... that's sheer hypocrisy.

Disband the anti-vice team and save some money.

Also, if this was an attempt to placate the conservative/religious anti-prostitution folks, I am not impressed.
