10月27日,全球第四大筆電代工廠英業達宣布裁員432人(編按:10月31日減為371人),引發各界震撼。沒人想到,向來以良好員工福利著稱的英業達,竟然也開了這一槍。

對於這波的裁員,英業達發言人徐信群的說法是,因為最大客戶惠普(HP)的平板電腦宣告終結,迫於無奈而裁員。然而這個說法,卻無法令此次被裁員的英業達工程師信服。國內頂尖大學畢業,七年級前段班出身的他,第一份工作就在英業達,負責NB部門。

畢業時抱著當科技新貴的夢入行,正要進入職場黃金期,沒想到卻在短短幾年間就夢碎。他的心聲,正是台灣數十萬工程師的無奈縮影。以下是他的第一手告白:

做研發的人整天都埋首在工作之中,根本沒有空去注意大環境怎麼樣。一直到今年中,領到一筆「激怒獎金」的時候才發現公司問題好像很多。

所謂激怒獎金,就是每年到了年中會發的一筆錢,算是激勵獎金。去年已經讓人不太滿意了,沒想到今年更糟糕,一砍就砍了30%,大家拿到時都很傻眼,本來是要激勵的,結果反而激怒。

過去這3年來,公司的最高原則好像是「用最少的人力,做最多的事」。工作一直增加,三節獎金跟福利卻每年都在下降。每天早上9點上班,晚上10點以後才下班,產品一出問題,就無法回家睡覺,人手不夠,又不去找人。公司採責任制,沒有加班費,像我們這種RD,做到死也是一樣的錢。

其實9月底就知道可能會裁員了,那時候謠傳說會裁掉一千多個,10月初裁員消息公開後,聽說有政府高層打電話來關切,希望不要影響選情,消息才又被壓下去。但辦公室已經風聲鶴唳,人心惶惶,每個人都在猜是誰會被裁掉。

裁員那天,公司的氣氛非常不好,像是要赴刑場的感覺,所有人都坐在位置上等通知。主管從HR那邊拿到文件,就到位置上把人帶走,去辦手續。夠血腥吧?大家一開始是shock(震驚),然後開始有人cry(哭泣)、sad(傷心)。我算是資淺的,有那種20年、25年的,請問公司高層,你要他們怎麼辦?

對這些離開的人來說,公司的發言很傷我們的心。自己虧損不檢討,卻拿下面的員工來節流。看看公司過去這幾年的投資,益通、英穩達、英冠達,有哪一樣是賺錢的?通通賠錢!這些難道是基層員工的錯?

公司一直對外說,是因為HP取消平板訂單,但事實上,這次的裁員不是針對單一部門,是全面性的。上面開出名單,要求每個部門刪減3成人力,不只平板,連NB部門也一體適用。不是看產業好壞,而是看數字,就是要達到432人的裁員數目。

我覺得台灣科技業還是有機會,但一定要想辦法走自主創新之路,代工業已經確定不行了,老闆們如果還是短視近利的話,那我們這幾年來培養的大批碩士、博士、產學合作等,遲早都會走到跟我一樣的命運。
