A grenade is an ammunition thrown by hand. Because the early grenade looks a bit like a pomegranate, it gets its name. In terms of function and characteristics, the grenade is a single-armed close-range combat weapon. It has the advantages of small size, light weight, simple structure, reliable performance and convenient operation. It plays a very important role in various military operations. So how did the grenade be born and evolved?
Around 700 AD (equivalent to the Tang Dynasty in China), Byzantine soldiers began to use the ceramic containers with Greek fire and shovel to attack the enemy. Subsequently, there were spherical firearms in the Song Dynasty of China, such as bonfire balls, bonfire balls, and fireballs.

In the 15th century, hand-throwing ammunition with black gunpowder began to appear in Europe. More than two hundred years later, this type of hand-throwing ammunition began to be used on a large scale. In the 18th century, soldiers who used this type of ammunition were also called grenadiers. Grenadiers are the most elite infantry service in the European Army. Not all soldiers who throw "eggs" are called "Grenadiers." The grenadiers were highly qualified at the time, usually the strongest and tallest soldiers. At that time, it was really throwing, throwing hands, like a hammer, and now it has changed hands. In the era of rifle shooting, the average line infantry usually wears a tribe, and the grenadiers wear a pointed hat for the convenience of bombing. At that time, the standard line tactics were that the two sides first shot each other and then marched forward. In order to instantly defeat the opponent, the grenadier will seize the appropriate timing to bomb the opponent's queue and disturb the opponent's formation. Later, with the disappearance of the rifle tactics, the grenadiers did not use them, but the name of the grenadier was retained. In World War II, the Germans also gave the grenadiers a new name - the Panzergrenadier. Of course, this is another species.
After the era of guns, the grenade was once cold. However, with the outbreak of the Japanese-Russian War in 1904, grenades recreated the glory of the past on the battlefield. In the First World War, grenades were widely used due to the rise of the war. In World War II, grenade was not only widely used, but also rapidly developed, and a hollow charge anti-tank grenade appeared. One of the most classic grenades is the German M24. This grenade has a very cute nickname called "Potato Special Hammer". It is said that the British like to use it to hammer potatoes.
It is worth mentioning that the M24 is also the ancestor of China's grenade. During the Anti-Japanese War, our army used a large number of imitations of this grenade. In China's anti-Japanese battlefield, grenades were the most important infantry weapon, even surpassing rifle bullets. In 1941, the total production of grenades in the country reached an astonishing 5 million. At that time, the imitation M24 grenades were mainly Gongxian arsenal, Hanyang arsenal, Jinan arsenal and Shanxi military craft internship, forming four kinds of grenades of Gong, Han, Ji and Jin, among which the most produced were grenade grenades. The Eighth Route Army made hand-made grenade at large arsenals such as Huangyadong in the Taihang Mountains. The highest monthly output exceeded 200,000.
Grenade can be divided into sessile grenades and stalk grenades according to its shape; it can be divided into offensive grenades, defensive grenades, and offensive and defensive grenades according to combat use; it can be divided into anti-infantry grenades, anti-tank grenades and fumes according to usage. Grenade, burning grenades, etc.
The difference between offensive grenades and defensive grenades is mainly determined by different functional positioning. The offensive grenades have certain requirements for portability, and also consider that there may be friendly forces around them, so there are restrictions on size, weight and power, mainly relying on shock waves to kill; defensive grenades are usually more powerful. The main use of fragments to kill, early models often use a one-piece cast iron casing to reduce costs, such as the famous "pineapple" style.
Most of the grenades currently in service in the world are sessile grenades, which are our common grenade. Among them, the country with the largest inventory of girders has a number of countries. Although some models, such as the 67-type wooden hand grenades, have long been discontinued, due to the large output in the year, there is still a considerable amount of inventory. In the 1960s and 1970s, in order to cope with the severe pressure in the north, the country has set off a wave of large-scale training. Grenade is popular because of its simplicity, practicality, and ease of manufacture.
It is said that the 67-type grenade is produced according to the per capita quantity of China. The production of grenade in China was produced according to the number of PLA soldiers, four ordinary militiamen, and one old and one child. At that time, the PLA had more than 6 million people. The militia is also known as the "700 million people of 700 million soldiers", so the 67-type grenade has reached the most inventory when it reached 1.5 billion. (Author's signature: Korolev)
