In the early morning of May 7, 2021, the body of a woman was discovered and retrieved from East Coast Park waters, near the B2 carpark and the fishermen's boat storage facility.

Pronounced dead at the scene

Police told Mothership that they received a call for assistance at around 4:50am.

After retrieval from the waters, she was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.
Based on preliminary investigations, no foul play is suspected and police investigations are ongoing.

Fisherman shaken by incident

Some fishermen in the area, were also slightly shaken by this incident.
Speaking to Shin Min Daily reporters, a 58-year-old said that he headed out to sea at around 5am, and did not notice anything amiss.
He only learnt that a body was discovered after he returned at around 9am, and was so frightened by it that he did not dare to prepare his fish in that area.
Several police officers were seen carrying out investigations.
Another fisherman told the Chinese daily that the woman was dressed in a light-coloured blouse and a dark pair of shorts. She had a cloth bag with her.
The woman was believed to have drowned.
