负责保护箱设计的运载火箭技术研究院战术武器事业部结构室主任范新中表示，保护箱是融合了许多航天高科技于一身的“百宝箱”。保护箱的设计中用到了火箭气动加热防隔热结构设计、火箭整流罩蜂窝夹层结构设计和飞行器舱体复合材料结构设计等航天技术。
