Yes there’s joker on this photo, but the real story from Russia can be easily compared with this movie scene from Batman. Day when Russian senator arrested they tried to burn a “mountain of cash” – over billion in cash. Serious “Only in Russia” thing you never see abroad; Here is a video of cash:

MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. Russian senator from the Karachay-Circassian Region Rauf Arashukov, who was arrested on murder charges, among others, has complained of being placed in a cell with an inmate serving a 17-year sentence on terrorism charges, a TASS correspondent reported from Moscow’s City Court on Thursday.
"I am a member of the Federation Council (Russia’s upper parliament house - TASS) and I have been place in a cell with a man sentenced to 17 years for terrorism. How come? I haven’t slept for three days running because of him," Arashukov said, adding that after being taken to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention facility he had to spend five days in quarantine, which, in his words, was more like being kept in a solitary confinement.
"I refused to eat their prison food and for these five days I haven’t gotten any packages from outside since it is apparently a quarantine, but in my opinion it’s a solitary confinement," the senator stated.
In response to Arashukov’s complaint, the prosecutor said the man is now "closer to the people."

Investigative Committee suspects Russian senator of being involved in two murders

"What can I say? The senator has got closer to the people," he said.
The investigator insisted on Arashukov’s arrest citing pressure on witnesses as a reason. "Arashukov has beaten over a witness who testified against him. And when I was in Karachay-Circassia people did not even believe that someone is ready to hear to them about Arashukov’s crimes," he said.
Moscow’s City Court on Thursday considered a motion from Arashukov’s defense lawyers challenging his arrest and ruled to uphold the first instance court’s decision.
Senator from the Karachay-Circassian Region Rauf Arashukov on January 30 was stripped of immunity and detained right at the session of the upper parliament house, the Federation Council. This was the first such case in the history of Russia’s upper house. He was charged with murder, as well as participating in a criminal group and exerting pressure on a witness. The senator, who was arrested until March 30, has pleaded not guilty, calling the criminal case against him politically motivated.
The senator’s father, Raul Arashukov, and a number of other people were arrested on suspicion of organizing a criminal group and embezzling gas from Russia’s gas giant Gazprom.

Investigators believe Russian senator paid $22,400 for two murders

"Today, two more suspects were detained," Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said.
She identified the detainees as Zamir Borisov and Irina Valeshnaya, regional gas officials in South Russia’s Stavropol region whom investigators suspect of receiving money from local industrial gas consumers. The official charges against them will be filed soon.
"Two more suspects - Uali Yevgamukov and Umar Kalmykov - were put on the wanted list as part of the investigation," the spokeswoman said.

As part of the ongoing investigation, more than 70 searches and inspections were held in 22 cities, towns and villages of the Stavropol region, as well as in Russia’s North Caucasus republics of Karachay-Circassia and Dagestan.
Arashukov case
Senator Rauf Arashukov was detained on January 30 during a meeting of Russia’s upper house, the Federation Council, which is the first such incident in the history of the Russian parliament. The Federation Council stripped Arashukov of immunity and agreed to his indictment on criminal charges.
According to the Russian Investigative Committee, Arashukov is suspected of being involved in the murders of Deputy Chairman of the Adyge Khase youth movement Aslan Zhukov and Adviser to the head of the Karachay-Circassian Region Fral Shebzukhov. He is charged under the Russian Criminal Code’s Articles 210.3 (participation in a criminal association), 309.4 (witness tampering) and 105.2 (murder).
Arashukov pleaded not guilty and said the case was politically motivated.
Rauf Arashukov’s father, Raul Arashukov, who was director general of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol in 2002-2011 and now is adviser to that company’s director general, was also detained under the embezzlement case.
Among others detained under this case are Igor Travinov, director of Gazprom Gazoraspredeleniye Stavropol, Nikolai Romanov, deputy director of that company, Guzer Khashukayev, director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol’s subsidiary in Mineralnye Vody, and Rauf Arashukov’s cousin, Ruslan Arashukov. The men were arrested until March 30.
Besides, the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee has launched another criminal case against Raul and Rauf Arashukov, on suspicion misappropriating natural gas, delivered to Dagestan, Stavropol and Karachay-Circassia by Gazprom, which is worth some 30 bln rubles (around $455.5 million). On February 21, Moscow’s Basmanny Court has arrested Russian senator Raul Arashukov’s father-in-law Ruslan Agoev in absentia and issued an international arrest warrant for him.

Rauf Arashukov has been arrested until March 30 on charges of involvement in especially serious crimes.

President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov says the Kremlin does not believe that the situation with the administration in the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic has become critical. According to Putin’s spokesperson, the high-profile scandal surrounding the arrest of KCR Senator Rauf Arashukov did not affect the ruling circles of the region.
“Of course no, what kind of critical situation can it be?” Dmitry Peskov responded to journalists.
To recall, 32-year-old Senator Rauf Arashukov has been arrested until March 30 on charges of involvement in especially serious crimes: two murders and pressure on a witness of one of those, as well as participation in a criminal community that had stolen gas worth 31 billion rubles ($457 million) from Gazprom. The alleged leader of the OCC is the senator’s father, Raul Arashukov, who has also been arrested until the end of March.
