Will Tampines residnets vote for a tax cheat then? If he can cheat the government and his wife, what stops him from cheating the residents?

He is treating this election like a lottery. If he wins the prize money of $216.3k per annum or $1.081 million for 5 yrs (MP allowance), he will stay put. If he loses, he will just scramble away to Hong Kong to enjoy his laundered funds. Will Tampines residents trust a gambler to mange their Town Council funds?

Recently he sold his HDB flat for a handsome profit. He then pledges to use this profit to fight against policies that enable value of HDB flats to appreciate, Isn't it hypocritical that he is trying to deprive HDB flat sellers of profiting from rise in value which he himeself had benefitted from? Isn;t he just an opportunist trying to harvest from the discontentment of home buyers over rising propety prices? Will Tampines residents vote for such a selfish hypocritical opportunist?

such thinking allows the opposition to open their mouths once every 5 years, stir the m&d and obtain the votes to keep silent for another 5 years. There is no focus on the opposition - if they are willing to do the job, if they are ethical in their behaviour, if they are willing and had championed the voices of the people for the past twenty years. Or if they only championed their own voices and self-interest.
PAP will win again and this time round, only because there is no opposition worth the vote. Neither is there any opposition willing to turn a losing strategy into a winning referendum on the PAP's performance.
That one day cooling off period will allow people to think through if anger is worth the vote. However that cooling off period will be useless if people treat it as an endorsement either for or against the PAP policies of the last five years in a ward championed by creditworthy opposition.
Focus it all on one GRC led by the WP because that is the party most trusted by the populace and use it as a referendum of the PAP's policies.
