A businessman who ran over a nine-year-old schoolboy is appealing against his $8,000 fine.
The little boy, Chen Chun Yu, was on his way to school at 11am on 18 September 2009.
It was raining in Boon Lay and the boy was crossing the road to get to Boon Lay Primary School when the car struck him.
He fought for his life for a week before succumbing to his injuries in hospital.
The driver, Peng Shi Lang, 54, was driving his Lexus towards Jalan Boon Lay.
He said that it was raining and he did not see the boy due to poor visibility. He feels that the boy should bear responsibility for his own death.
As such, Peng is appealing against his $8,000 fine.
