Cash is king. When everybody is doing something, you don't follow what they do. Keeping is of no harm, when no one is buying property, no one is buying stocks, that is the best time to do what others fear doing :p This is what you should do if you want to compound your money few folds

chinkandoo: Reminibi is good but it will be slow and gradual upward. Unless u have big money and patience, 300K is hardly a grain of sand in money exchange.

$300K is neither big nor small but if you use it effectively, you would be amazed by its compounding capabilities.
Go with an aim to get an annual return of 10% (5% capital appreciation and 5% from dividends) from the equity market. Think long term and though the economy is still fuzzy and may potentially go up and down, the returns over the horizon looks good especially for a place like Asia.
If you can achieve that annually, then you are seeing your money doubling in around 7 years' time.
