INGAPORE — A 26-year-old regular with the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) was sentenced to four weeks’ jail on Monday (July 17) for entering a female toilet in a junior college and filming a student while she was changing
her clothes. Wee Wei Jie was convicted of one count of intending to insult the modesty of the 16-year-old victim at Nanyang Junior College on March 22 last year.
The court heard that the victim, who cannot be named because of a gag order, had just finished her touch rugby training in the evening and was changing in the school’s first-floor toilet cubicle when she saw a mobile phone above the cubicle door.
Wee also told the police that when he was in the college, he thought of filming girls in the toilet because he wanted to do something “he thought was exciting”, Deputy Public Prosecutor Kong Kuek Foo said.
In mitigation, Wee’s lawyer Jonathan Wong said his client was a person of integrity and that his offending actions were “out of character”.
