Serious Msian bank exec jailed for cheating UOB

Didn't I just said there are many crimes committed by Msians in spore from cheating to murder to rape in recent years? Yet another case reported .

Look at the news headline, how it indicates name but not nationality. What will most people who just read headlines think? Almost everyone will assume Sporean. Many people don't click the link to read the actual news. Whereas when criminal is Sporean, nationality will be highlighted, not the name.

And even in the actual news the nationality is mentioned in the second paragraph only. Sometimes even much further down the article or not mentioned at all. Many people don't read beyond first or second paragraph.



SINGAPORE - A former mobile personal banking executive, who deceived the bank into delivering referral commissions totalling $84,500 to a housing agent for property loans, was jailed for 14 months on Thursday (May 12).

Mok Chwan Yee, 35, a Malaysian, pleaded guilty to 13 of 40 charges of cheating United Overseas Bank into believing that customers were referred by Mr Tan Jeok Kiow to apply for housing loans when this was untrue, and induced the bank to deliver sums of $552 to $8,434 to Mr Tan.

Its nothing to do with MalaYSIANS, don't make it into that issue. Its has all to do with the lack of control and oversight at UOB. This bank simply does not have the audit function that it should have. The Indonesians also cheat them. Singaporeans also cheat them. In the end if you are lacking in control, everyone will cheat you.

What rubbish you talking about? Read my comments first before you open your big mouth. I am saying news headlines reporting the criminal name, causing people to think this is done by sporean. But when criminal is sporean, the headline will highlight is sporean instead of name. Since when I said Indonesian or Sporeans no cheat UOB ?

In fact you read the Msia newspaper, if any crime done by Sporeans or even assumed Sporeans driving spore plate cars , the headlines will always highlight Sporean. No way they will report a name like that . And if the uob cheater is Indonesian in this case, you think straits time will still report the indon sounding name in headline ?

Another crooked malaysian chink felon running loose in singapore. Why must cheat and steal? Truly the greed of chinks knows no bounds. Papsmearer you cannot say bank lacks proper controls in place. While it may be true, a man's character and ethics is the best form of control and oversight employers can buy. Employers want cheap and good, they will get cheaters and hucksters like Mok. It is a risk they are willing to take so there is no need to berate UOB for lack of oversight as that sort of jiakliaobee role costs money too.

Controlling function is not jia Liao bee role. It's the most underpaid, difficult and unappreciated role. At least for auditor who can issue report, people are scared. Whereas finance staff in controlling role faced colleagues' wrath and dislike when the boss do not place importance in the role. Boss will only support such role when and after shit hits the fan. Only fat cats and rumour mongers in the company are in jia Liao bee role.
