Recent case of a Malay fellow who stole a cash register in Jurong. Not much in it, just a few dollars and he threw the cash register away. He was jailed but I cannot recall except remembering what a stupid fellow to steal and get a long sentence for a few dollars only.

Pulling the child away and talking to the kid about why he did wrong is different from slapping, kicking or doing whatever in public as punishment. The tendency to punish the child immediately often is in anger and might end up abusing the child physically. Many a time parents misbehave too...
