Vincent Wijeysingha should publicly condemn SDP & Dr Chee Soon Juan

That is the pertinent point. TJS, just like that RP sec-gen, is not able to play second-fiddle to anyone. Their own lofty opinion of themselves is only shared by a small segment of voters. The vast majority of voters have a distaste for their highly inflated egos. Until now both either do...

Vincent Wijeysingha should publicly condemn SDP & Dr Chee Soon Juan

Correct me if I am wrong, but did not TJS & AYG approach other parties first, including WP? Only after the parties turned them down did they approach SDP which was only to happy to accept them. Which party will now accept TJS? Or will he form a new one? These are pertinent questions.

LKY's veiled hubris and pretended modesty

The blogger is not up to speed on this. I remember that scroobal had a better take on this matter: demolition of the house, which is his desire, would unlock a massive amount of money for his survivors. A developer would be able to build a tall and upscale condo development there as height...

    regarding tithes in churches

Those who give are not given receipts... hahaha Thus the chumps who sold their public housing pigeonholes to give to KH and CHC may not have any remedy. Theirs are merely unsubstantiated claims. One can easily see why some people see the virtue in never leaving a paper trail. lol

Tony Abbot is the new PM of Aust.

Abbot and his "Liberal" Party (which is a misnomer) together with the even more right-wing coalition partner the National Party may herald the start of a conservative backlash around the world.

    Useless insurance

Read here, it says it is "optional": http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/CPF/my-cpf/get-mar/GM2.htm I think many Sporns are clueless about what and where their monies in CPF is going into.

    Useless insurance

Quite coincidentally just last week I was looking at my DPS policy and wondering what use it was to me. I considered informing Great Eastern that I would not renew the policy as my annual premiums appear to be going into a black hole. But I left the matter like that. Now, however, I will move...

Why is LTA buying buses for the private companies?

There are 2 separate issues here. First, is the amount of contribution made by various segments of the population to government coffers. Second, is the relative burden of tax on various segments of the population. The 2 are completely different issues. My remarks are on the first issue...

...banks divide pple in 2 queues symbolic of class division...

The best part is when people in the front of the queue have plenty of bank business, banking in wads of notes and bags full of coins. And just when the customer at the priority counter is about to finish, another priority customer pops in and gets served right away. The many glum faces become...

Vincent Wijeysingha should publicly condemn SDP & Dr Chee Soon Juan

Hardliners within SDP have clearly lost out. Who would have thought that SDP under CSJ would ever publicly praise the police? Well, now we have it: SDP commends police for permit for forum http://www.tremeritus.com/2013/09/07/sdp-commends-police-for-permit-for-forum/

    The Workers' Party

It is really good to have Hong Boon, Dennis and Daniel taking prominent positions in the party. They will likely lead the charge in 2 GRCs.

Why is LTA buying buses for the private companies?

If the comparison is on the basis of the contribution by segments of the population to the treasury, then the top 20-25% of income earners contribute the vast bulk of all taxes, including GST but mostly through direct income tax. Their contribution amounts to around 80% of all taxes. Those who...

Why is LTA buying buses for the private companies?

Actually, two-thirds of the working population do not pay income tax. And the irony is that most of the one-third that does actually pay do not rely on public transport. In other words, the relatively well-off one-third is subsidizing the public transport needs of most of the two-thirds who...
