Workers Party. The only opposition in the world helping the ruling Party

In AV, nothing will happen to DL and KJ's votes simply because LLL already has 50%. Only if LLL had less than 50% then they will look at the DL votes for the second choices to transfer. If still no party has 50% then they will look at KJ votes to transfer.

Master stroke by WP chief Mr Low , well done !

The White Paper is not a binding order. It just sets a bunch of guidelines for the various ministries to follow. If Worker's Party takes over the government after the next GE, they will just appoint a new group of ministers to do things differently.

Master stroke by WP chief Mr Low , well done !

I highly doubt that this move was not expected at all by any PAP member. It has been commonly used by the opposition on many contentious issue. JBJ used to move for division on almost anything he wants to vote against the PAP, Hansard has even recorded a couple of exasperated responses from the...

Best Speech Ever in a long while - Inderjit

Well I'm probably wrong about him voting 'aye', since he claimed he did not vote. Either he was not at his seat when the vote was taken, or he didn't enter his vote into the electronic voting device.

Workers Party. The only opposition in the world helping the ruling Party

I don't think you understand what AV is. It is completely different to PR. In fact compared to PR, AV and FPTP might as well be the same thing because in most cases AV and FPTP give the same result for any one seat.

For this endorsement, 1/3 won't be enough since it is not a Constitution amendment

Well, the votes were just taken, and Mr Inderjit Singh voted 'aye'.

Workers Party. The only opposition in the world helping the ruling Party

It's not that simple. If you check out the British Election Study research into the 2010 election results: http://www.essex.ac.uk/bes/ You will find that if AV had been used, there would have been no change in the number of seats for the small parties, but the Liberal Democrats would have won...

It's wise advice for Hsien Loong to go native with singaporeans !

Would you prefer a system where everyone takes out their all their own CPF money and do anything they like with it? One can imagine how that will end up.

Why Wong kan Seng, Raymond , mah bow tan were demoted ?

Probably nothing elsewhere as well. It is unreasonable to sack the whole chain of command for one mistake, it has to stop somewhere, just a matter of where. While it was fun making WKS squirm and using the incident as a bullet to question the ministerial pay, it's unreasonable to expect him or...

Best Speech Ever in a long while - Inderjit

I went through the Hansard to check up on TCB supposedly voting against the motion despite the Whip. During the well known 1992 incident with Mr Chiam See Tong and Mr Low Thia Khiang cheering Dr Tan Cheng Bock's "I cannot support this motion" end of speech, the Whip was actually lifted...

Workers Party. The only opposition in the world helping the ruling Party

If you are referring to the the UK 2011 Referendum, it wasn't to replace FPTP with PR, but to replace FPTP with Alternate Voting.

    Democrats conduct traditional CNY walkabout

IMO there's nothing wrong with liking SDP and posting about what they are doing in here. But am I the only one that immediately went looking at the group photo to see who is missing?

    PTADER - Come Out

I don't see the issue with Article 134 1(a). If you read it in context with the 22 years thing, then it becomes quite clear. The Constitution gives the government the right to revoke citizenship of dual citizens over the age of 18, but government policy seems to be to apply it only to dual...

What lack of response? Did you write to them demanding attribution or something?

Constitution Requires Government to Hold a Referendum on 6.9 million!

Statutory Interpretation in this case would be going back to the time when the Article was written into the Constitution, and determining the intention and meaning of the word at that point of time. That can possibly mean looking for a dictionary from the early 1800s or 1700s from the East...

Constitution Requires Government to Hold a Referendum on 6.9 million!

Sovereignty is defined the English dictionary, which you should probably look up, because it is pretty obvious you don't know what it means exactly. That's all speculation. We have no way to know if the BE would be called or not without the suit.

6 Impatient Ex- WP members who could have been MPs

I think the stories going around say that they are not ex-WP members. Rather, that they applied to WP, and were told that they were not going to be given special treatment and are not exempted from having to do quite a bit of volunteer work before being considered to be candidates for the GE. So...

Constitution Requires Government to Hold a Referendum on 6.9 million!

Don't try to compare this with the By Election case. The By Election case had some merit, and it all comes down to the meaning of the term "shall". Your case will have zero merit because you will have to change the meaning of the word "sovereignty" in order to have a case at all. The AGC and...
